Scarification is the scraping of the soil to remove the felting and moss which covers its roots every year and which smothers the grass.
When and How to scarify ?

Twice a year : in Spring after the first mowing and in Autumn to strengthen the grass before Winter.

Should you pick up the waste ?
So as to avoid smothering the lawn, it is necessary to carefully pick up all waste with a scarifier equipped with a container for this purpose or with a lawnmower.
Which type of scarifier should you opt for ?

For small surfaces up to 50 sq. m. choose a hand scarifier.

For surfaces up to 500 sq. m. you should use an electric scarifier.

For surfaces over 500 sq. m. use a thermal (petrol) scarifier.
