Miniplants

MiniplantsFor several years now, you can find "miniplants" in garden centres and in mail-order catalogues ready for planting in your hanging pots, window boxes, in your embankments, or even in your vegetable plot.  Very economical, these young plants are sold at different stages of their development.  For garden embankments, choose those at the more developped stages.

The size of the clod varies according to the method of reproduction.

Miniplants aged between 6 and 8 weeks

These come from a sowing which the horticulturist traditionally sows in pots.  Just over an inch in height, it is the most economic size as it demands a minimal substratum.

Miniplants are delivered at an ideal stage to be planted directly in window boxes, pots, bowls, and hanging pots.  For those to be used in the garden, it is better to transplant them in pots so that thay can develop a bit more.

Older miniplants

Miniplants are also available at a later stage in their development, which allows them to be planted directly in the garden, either in window boxes or in your embankment.  They flower in spring or in summer, depending on the species.

But you can also find plants which come from cuttings whose roots are well developped.  The size of the clods vary slightly depending on the species.  They can be planted as they are in your balcony pots, bowls or even directly in their place in the garden.  These plants travel best in blister pack.
